The shy and sometimes illusive Great Blue Heron graces the shores of Iowa's rivers and lakes. These birds are territorial and will be seen "kindly asking" egrets and other waterfowl to vacate their feeding location. the last two images were taken from a pontoon boat on Lake MacBride, all the other images were from various back water areas in eastern Iowa.
